Explore the territory of the Province of Rome with ‘Handheld Treasures’: take the ancient Roman consular roads in search of jewels of archaeology and art, natural marvels, timelessly charming villages, extraordinary traditions in food and wine, and – everywhere – a warm welcome.
The app presents more than 186 ‘treasures’ lying along the ancient Roman Vie: Flaminia, Cassia, Claudia Braccianese, Aurelia, Portuense, Severiana, Ardeatina, Appia, Latina, Prenestina, Tiburtina, Nomentana, and Salaria.
The itineraries centre on dynamic maps that can be used offline and feature a geolocation function for pinpointing the user’s position.
The interactive, zoomable maps, one for each Via, let you access points of interest – historic centres, archaeological or historic-artistic assets, and natural beauty spots – to open text/image windows providing site descriptions and useful tourist information for your visit (addresses, opening hours, costs, services, activities, and contacts: email, telephone numbers, and websites you can link to from the app) and information about accommodations, eating places, and the enogastronomic treasures and food and wine producers of the Province of Rome and its countryside. You’re free to organize your visit as you please, and you always have access to the latest info.
Additional features of the app are a vast photo gallery and videos.
Search filters help you narrow down your choices in the various areas of interest.
The maps feature customisable functions; you can save pages in the ‘Favourites’ folder or access your very own travel diary to make notes about places/events of interest.
